1. Approval of Minutes
Approved without changes.
2. Approval of Terms of Reference
Approved without changes. Kyle Cyr is to send Terms of Reference to the Voluntary Sector Task Force for distribution to the other Tables. Helen Friel is to send copies of the Treasury Board Policy on Volunteers to Kyle Cyr for distribution to all table members.
3. Public Opinion Research
Jérôme Moisan gave a brief update on the recent developments with regards to the Public Opinion Research work requested by the Table at its December teleconference. Two research proposals were received and the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy (CCP) was selected to undertake the work required.
The Table has allocated a maximum amount of $19,000.00 for the research work, which is to be completed on or before February 21st.
4. Focus Group
As requested by the Joint Awareness Table, Jim Mintz tabled a document highlighting different aspects of focus groups. It was decided by the Table, that, in order to maximize the results of conducting focus groups, they should be conducted only once the results of the Scan of Research on Public Attitudes Towards the Voluntary Sector have been analysed by Table members. Meanwhile, members are invited to forward possible questions thatcan be used to construct a focus group discussion guide to Kyle Cyr.
5. Workplan
A draft work plan was distributed to Table members. A sub-committee composed of Marcel Custeau, Leslie MacLean, Jérôme Moisan and Riecky Stewart will meet to finalize the next draft of the workplan requested by the Voluntary Sector Task Force by January 31st. A copy will also be circulated to table members.
6. Canadian Centre for Philanthropy's 7th Annual Symposium
Gordon Floyd presented a draft agenda for the two-day symposium. A sub-committee, composed of Gordon Floyd, Jamey Burr, Ann Dostaler, Louise Gagné, Martyn Goodger and Sue Tomney, will be responsible for finalizing the agenda. They will report back at our next meeting.
The members of the table also approved the funding of a satellite site for the conference in Montreal. The amount is not to exceed $ 25,000.00.
7. Joint Awareness Table's Framework
Marcel Custeau presented a framework drafted with the help of Murry Krause and Trudy Schroeder outlining the expected outcomes/impact of the Joint Awareness Table.
Comments were made and are to be reflected in final version to be tabled at our next meeting .
8. Other Business
Ellen Adelberg gave a brief progress report on the Voluntary Sector Initiative Web Site. The official launch of the site is scheduled for end of March 2001. Ellen also indicated that the Joint Coordinating Committee had approved the Joint Communications and Consultations Frameworks at their last meeting.
