Announcement: Organization chosen for the Request for Funding
Opportunities (RFO): “Developing a Portal for the Voluntary
Sector”
Following the RFO for the “Portal Development for the Voluntary
Sector” that closed August 29, 2003, the IM/IT Advisory
Group and Industry Canada are pleased to inform you that a pan-Canadian
consortium of Provincial/Regional/Municipal Voluntary Sector Organizations,
led by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC),
have been chosen to work with the IM/IT Secretariat to deliver
activities and oversee the project.
The Portal project is based on a collaborative consensus-based
approach that generates a collective understanding of project
priorities in response to voluntary sector needs and priorities.
The project brings together a unique partnership of voluntary
sector organizations and coalitions at various levels that reflect
the differing needs and national, provincial, regional and local
realities of Canada. The following organizations comprise the
pan-Canadian consortium that has been selected to provide project
leadership:
This collaboration of voluntary sector organizations will be
supported technically by three of the leading organizations in
the portal design and management domain in Canada. They are:
The experience that this consortium has had in partnering with
diverse organizations throughout the country, along with its strong
governance structure are important assets for the realization
of this project. The consortium also brings to the table a wealth
of knowledge that will benefit the Voluntary sector as a whole.
